priority mail?

The thing about priority is that it might take 3 days. I would worry about the cold weather and a vendor told me heat packs last only 40 hours.

I spoke with TFD before about priority shipping and to me, they are against it.

its abt 75 here right now so maybe that will help

If the seller is against it Id worry about the risk. Some sellers guarantee for priority if it arrives on time and some do reguardless. If that seller prefers overnight and only does priority under protest cause the customers demand it,his shipping practices may not be good enough for 2-3 days of transit.Or the fish he is selling might not ship well.

Yes, but it is snowing in Ohio where TFD is at and probably somewhere else. I live in California and it does get cold overnight here. Like I said, 2 days for shipping is decent but the third day, I don't know about that.

the thing is, the heat packs will be active long after the box has left ohio, it depends on what your ordering whether its really worth risking it or not

as a vendor once, i will tell you this about priority shipping. I would only be ok with it for certain fish and situations. It would have alot to do with, is it a hardy fish, weather in both locations and weather in transit paths (like if your package leaves 80degree weather to 80 degree weather yo uhave to consider it might stop by a state that has 50degree weather) , you also have to consider bigger fish wont be a good idea. It all boils down to the vendors shipping technique too. I once shipped a adonis pleco to new york fro miami, the package was in an airport for 5 days because of a snow storm, and he still made it and arrived alive :) I packaged well:)

As one who ships every week I will chime in about the no live arrival on priority thing. The reason for this is that in teh fine print for priority it says it can take something like up to 10 days with 2-3 days being typical. Most packages arrive in 2-3 days which is "safe" for smaller fish if packaged well. The other thing is that usps will not insure live fish. So if a seller ships priority and it ends up taking 7 days instead of 2 (no fault of the seller) and the fish arrive dead, there is no way for the seller to recover their money. same goes for express except you can at least get your shipping money back if its over 2 days. I ship small fish priority alot and almost always ship invertebrates priority. I have a super high live arrival rate, but I still cannot guarantee live arrival on priority (especially this time of year with the holidays approaching). I prefer express. Airport to airport for large or valuable fish.

so we hve very mixed opinions. i will probably call them, but from what you guys are saying i am going 2 go priority if i do. they are not extremely expensive, and overnight will probably cost more than the fish when priority is 20$ flat+they are pretty hardy being cichlids and only 2-3"
