OH
I have an Eheim Pro 3 on one of my 75s and I would like to put some sort prefilter on the intakes.

preferably something that I can slide off/on easily because I plan on cleaning them very frequently....pretty much daily

anybody done it and/or have any recommendations?

are those filtermax ones any good and does anybody know if they would fit the Pro 3 intakes?

thx!

Not at all. I use mine on a 70 gal as well. The Pro3 sucks with mech filtration on larger tanks, feel free to search this forum for my name and 2080, and you'll see.

Here's a pic of the prefilter. Goes over the intake like a sock.

Pro3 doesn't filter mechanically very well on larger tanks?

thanks Harley I will look into those

do they fit well between the glass and intake tube?
or is it a tight squeeze

jgray - I dont think the Pro 3 is known for its mechanical on any size tank. I have it on a dicus grow out tank. The discus are fed a beefheart mix several times a day and create quite a bioload....even with lotsa water changes.

I have managed to turn the aquaclear HOB sponges into prefilters, but it may be pretty difficult to get a large enough hole in it. Right now I've used 3 halves of an AC50 sponge to make a prefilter for the AC50, an AC110, and a Penguin 200. Its worth a try if you've got some spares.

zip tie some quilt batting to the intake.
