In my opinion, a F2 is best.
(aka second gen. in captivity)
You get the added benefits listed above as well as the fact that they were not born in the wild so it is less cruel keeping them in captivity
(they are not used to swimming all around the amazon)
The fact that it is an f2 means hat the genes will be raw and ready to go in a captive breeding pool. (fyi I am very picky about which rays I am going to breed, no inbreeding, no interbreeding, nice, strong genetics. Just looking to the future ^^)
I would not disclude a wild caught specimen, but depending on your experience a wild caught ray might be a better and easier choice.
