Why would they kill off their collection that's worth hundreds of thousands of dollars just to get insurance money?
Here is what I am suspecting happened:
Sell most of the valuables at a killer price (50% off or so) then in the records, you could write that you only sold half of the snakes that you really did. Then start a fire and have insurance cover the snakes that were sold and say that they were lost in the fire. Also all of the snakes that were lost in the fire would be covered plus some I'm sure.
I have been hearing a few things through the rumor mill but it is still just a rumor (like Tom Crutchfield murdering his business partner). Either way, it is terrible that so many snakes have died.

I'm pretty sure that was a suicide. I remember watching that incident on "Swamp Wars," and the police said that said business partner was in a stand off with them and eventually offed himself; they were filming part of the standoff, too.

I smell foul play here. Insurance money is my bet, They were going under and having problems last I heard.... Have the fire marshals identified the source yet?
Well, I hope not. Ben and a bunch of other breeders and companies just started huge fund raising and money gathering promotions for them. They already had a few thousand dollars gathered... would hate to think the donations from the kindness and empathy of others went towards someone trying to get insurance money.
Wanna know the worst part? Arson is extremely difficult to diagnose, and i believe it is approx 30% of arsons are even ever caught. Yeah.......

I don't think they would make all those animals suffer for insurance money. But I also don't understand how one human being can willingly kill another but it still happens. Praying for them.

Kinda a scum bag way to imply they killed there own animals for the insurance money .As much as i have been around i always heard they were doing great plus there ship your reptiles business was booming .Toms partner was said by the police to have offed himself ina stand off, so is ita conspiracy between tom and the police?
