Probarbus Jullieni

I was wondering.. is this fish restricted in California? I have seen these fish for sale a year ago and never really knew anything about it until researching it recently.

On MFK's Restricted Species

It states that Cyprinidae are restricted (I hope I read it right). Under the Cyprinidae is Probarbus according to: Animal Diversity Web

I hope I am not reading too much on this but, several sites has stated this fish is endangered.. and this is one of them: US F&W

only concern is... it states proposed and it has been listed in 1976.

Bottom line.. restricted or not? Too many Federal and State laws.. getting confusing. Can someone shed some light on this please?

More RARER than an Asian Aro or anything else for the matter.

Awesome fish to have in a tank as a vacuum cleaner. Constantly shifts through sand. The red eyes I think is the main characteristic that makes this fish stand out.

sorry to hear that it is illegal... well i saw it on a pet store last year... owner never told me it was restricted nor illegal to buy. like the gars... well populated on LFS here in So. Cal. but actually illegal as well. When will the rules change for the betterment of this hobby!
