Electricity bill is tooooooo much and i'm almost 100% sure its because of my fishtank. It was winter when i fist got my tank so we used the heater alot so i thought that could be the reason. Now its always warm but the bill is still sky high! I want to know if you guys have any tricks for using less energy?

As of now, the filter is running 24/7 and the light is on from app. 7am-9/10pm. The heater stays on 24/7, but it turns off when the heat reaches ~86 Degrees F.

:help2:

I wouldn't think one fish tank would give you a sky-high bill, unless it's massive and requires tons of heating and filtration. I guess I've never not had a fish tank when paying for electricity, so I don't know the difference.

When we moved in we didn't get a bill for over a year, took us 6 years to pay it, with all the bills coming in to a new house we missed it. 3 tanks and a pond later we're running about £120 a month :-(

reduce light time, run lights 6 hours a day

hell i only turn my lights on when i look at the fish or feed..

one thing, acrylic tank is the best energy saver, my tank stays at 77 degrees, no problems, my light is only on when I want it on, and I have 2 xp3 running. my bill is okay. Also my heater only when i want to see intense color do I turn it on. Also, get all your appliances on light strips and then unplug anything your not using or need on when your asleep or not home. only thing plugged at night or when I am not home is my stove and fish tank, the rest is on a as needed basis.
