Just got back from the pet shop and discovered they dont sell catfish pellets?!:irked:

So until I find some I am feeding Harry with fish flakes which is what I feed the others in the tank. However I was reading somewhere that you can drop a "small" piece of cucumber in the tank for the bottom dwellers like my plecs and indeed the catfish? Is this info correct, only he is not feeding on the flakes as of yet (I know he's only been in the tank for 1 day) or will he feed on flakes once he's more settled in?

Any advice would be welcomed...as I am totally new to catfish and MF in general.

P.S He seems definately more at ease and is gently swimming round the tank!!:headbang2

Glad to hear he has settled in. Variety is best, flakes, insects(frozen worms etc), cucumber, peas(fresh from pod). Just remeber to rinse any veg cos of pesticides etc.
Good luck.

:irked:Hi Again and sorry if my questions seem a little foolish.....but
Harry wouldn't eat any flakes or cucumber, so I tried another shop today and they sold cichlid granules (like small pellets). I told the owner that we had a catfish and he wasn't eating and she said that these are for catfish?!?!?!

Anyway, long story short I bought them and am now waiting to see if he eats. Will let you know if I need more help!

Thats actuallly one of the great things about most Catfish.. they really arn't as picky as most other fish.... have some patience with your ID Shark as they really do take time to adjust to their new homes, 3 days isn't really anything to worry about... and you mentioned it's an 11cm fish which is big enough to wait it out. Once it feels comfortable it will eat, tough for us to do though since we are always egar to make sure they are eating well.

It will happen ;)

Thanks Tim, you are turning out to be a great help!!;)

Glad to be of assistance but I am only a novice myself. The good thing about this site is that you can get a good range of advice from some people that have forgotten more than most people will ever know.
