Ok...a couple days ago two of my 4" Orinos stopped eating, and their gills stay open all the time. They're in a 125 growout w/ 1 other Orino and 3 Monos w/ PLENTY of aireation, and water is near perfect, I do 40 to 50% WC weekly. They have all been flashing on the bottom, temp stays at 85, and no sign of ich. Also, i do not feed them live food at all, and no new fish have been added. Does anyone know what this could be? It's like they are starting to get gill curl or something, gills just stay flared. WTF????????????????????

I can't picture it...

so does it look like this all the time?

No, he's definetley not flaring at another fish...he is sick w/ somethin...The gills don't come out like the pic. It's like the bottom edge of the hard plate is starting to curl out a little. In this pic, you can see where the bottom of the gill plate is yellow, the yellow part is curled outward.

I know you said your water is perfect but have you actually tested it? All out of advice other than to test the water and make sure everything is where it should be.

Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

Amonia and ntrite what are the readings?

Yeah, i'm at work so i havn't tested it today, but I tested it yesterday and had 0 amo. 0 Nitrate and 0 nitrite....but i did a 50% WC the day before yesterday so??????????:nilly:The tank is well established, and i have a massive wet/dry, and an fx5 running so i don't think it could be water quality. I went ahead and treated the tank w/ prazi pro just in case it's flukes last night.....Gues i'll just hope for the best. I appreciate the help guys.

dont mean to be a PIA but are you sure the nitrates are 0?

Can you see the color of the actual gill? not the cover. If it is browning and not the redish/pink that may be a sign of nitrate poisoning. You can treat with aquarium salt to help the blood carry the O2 a little better.

Just tryin to help out. Good luck
