Your not being a pain at all man, i appreciate the help. Nitrates are next to 0, and their gills are red. I keep a little aquarium salt in the tank at all times because they're still small, and they only get fed once/twice a day. Can you see the color of the actual gill? not the cover. If it is browning and not the redish/pink that may be a sign of nitrate poisoning. You can treat with aquarium salt to help the blood carry the O2 a little better.
