problem with arrow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What you should really be doing in this case is to....

1. change water to remove some ammonia/nitrate - not too much change
2. stop feeding for a few days to prevent any further increase of ammonia
3. test water parameters again to see if ammonia levels is reduced.

This will remove some ammonia/nitrate. Your aro will then feel better.

Caution:-
From your test results, it seamed to me that your tank is not cycled. This because the presence of ammonia and absece of nitrite. The presense of nitrate could be due to a presense of nitrate in tap water. Try testing your tap water with test kit to be sure. If your tap water register nitrate levels similar to your tank water....most likely your tank is not cycled. :)

last night at work, i talked with rosewood022 about my tank. everyone is right about the ammonia and the absence of a tank cycle. My biological filter was not working for the first time in my aquarium days, turns out that the water was not hitting enough bio balls and it was moving too fast though the bioballs it was touching.

so i've began water testing and water changes and member's advise.

ya my atf had same prob. i treaded it to late. he lived as is good now but is eye is all white now and idont think it will ever go back. he cant see ot of it.

my ph and ammonia are good, but water is hard. i'll let you know how he looks tomorrow.

thank u for the help

I have really hard water too, my ph high range kit test parameters max out at 8.8 and it was sky high. I'm on a deep well in the mountains with glacial runoff. I started mixing 1/3 city water, 1/3 settled well and 1/3 reverse osmosis water. (you can buy it for about .39 cents a gal, get a tap filter for 50 and I've seen the machines for around 200. )

I add 1-2 lids of white vinegar and it brings it down into a readable range after all of the above. But, you know your fish and can tell what makes him happy. I go light on chemicals because the water won't hold them. (I don't know if the vinegar is a proper way to lower my ph, but it works and gu kaan is happy) When the aro is happy, life is good. When the aro is not, he can create hell!
