Alright so i set up a tang tank awhile back with brevis and occys and everything's was going fine, but a couple a days ago i noticed the brevis were starting to get a blackish/brown on the edge of there bottom fins, on one of them it seems to have spread to around its mouth, it hasnt effected the ocs, i have no idea what it is, its not black ick, i thought at first it could be fin rot but its the wrong color, i havent noticed any of them not eating, there fed nls, ph around 8.4, tank params are where they should be, and ive been using lake salt in this tank, i snapped a couple pics but you cant really tell, im gonna keep trying

this is really starting to frustrate me :wall: so any help finding out what this is would be greatly appreciated thanks

These strange spots are a common mystery to African fish keepers. What is it? Well lots of ideas, but no one knows for sure. From what I have been told, if it is not causing a change in the fish behavior and all params check out, and it is not a parasite or fin rot then let it been. Some believe it is tied to the diet of this in an aquarium.

I have had it on some of my africans from my understanding its like a parasite that co-exists on the fish with out doing harm (some sort of really small worm looks like small black dots that usually are on the fin and around the mouth or on the head) to the fish or its self and can be treated with medicated food but I dont remeber what type. It can supposidly live on the fish for many months. This is something guppy told me a few years ago when I first had it on my fish and posted a picture. Not sure if that is what it really is but just thought I would post that up.

not sure if that would work, but it is worth a try. If I remember, I posted about this shortly after Ash, it does go away and I am not sure how big NLS when we posted about this.
