That is a basic brown algae that is common in newly setup tanks. That has nothing to do with the plants. The plants have been eaten. What all is in the tank? Do you have any snails in the tank?

No, no snails. I have a lima shovel nose that Im looking to get rid of, an albino channel catfish(suspect) and an oscar, and a L-260(suspect) and a L-191 pleco.(another suspect). I feed algae wafers so they dont eat the plants.

I know most of them destroy planted tanks but Im getting my stand done for my 30g and Im putting a 40 breeder on my desk which is for plants only. And little nice fish.

So how can I get the algae gone? Its ugly and I hate it? Tank isnt new, its been set up since mid January...

That is not damage done by any of those fish. The algae will work itself out, or you could get some otos.

I use a prochilodus in all of my tanks. They eat ALL brown algea and havent messed with my plants at all. Plus I feed them krill.
