I was looking at my Ornate, when I noticed that the nosrils of the fish seems to be rubbing off. Around the nose has turned somewhat white and the nosril tubes are just about gone. I've been trying to get pictures, but it's in the corner where I can't get a good picture of it. Here are some pictures and these were the best I can do tonight. Hopefully, you can see, it's a bit white around it's nose? Is this a problem? Is it normal? Will it grow back?

The tubes will grow back eventually although I'm not really sure why they're falling off. It could be just it hit the glass too hard or one of your other fish could be nipping at it.

i have some with the nostrils growing back, and some that don't. i think the difference between the two cases is that naturally the nostrils (or generally missing body parts like fins and such) will try to regenerate soon after, but if the fish isn't eating or not getting enough nutrients or clean water during that period, the regeneration is slowed or halted, and after a while, as far as the fish is concerned, the injury is 'healed' in a sense without missing parts growing back. and if that happens, the missing part may never grow back.

btw what happened to the dorsal finlets and the pectoral fin?

I just picked up a 8 inch senegal that had some damage to the front of his mouth and his tubes were also damaged .......I made a post about it on here and Anne said just to keep the water quality good and it will heal on its own........I think mine got it from being in too small of a tank previously but the bruising is already going down and he seems to be doing good............

The finlets are closed, but the pectoral fins...I had some Congo Tetras and an Albino Senegal with it. A few days after I got it, I noticed that the fins were a bit tattered. And it looked the the tattered part fell off? Now it's by itself, but it's been like that for about a month now. This is my second Bichir, the first I actually had it for about a month then I gave it to a friend who wanted it. Does it look that bad?

not bad per se just not normal
