I was reading a website abut discus and they said that if there is carbon in your filter/tank it can make the discus sick, and it takes out tannis.

I want discus, but i also want driftwood.

first, you dont need carbo there are many other types of filter methods that clear water,

second discus dont need tannins

third youll be fine either way you go

kepp the carbon and have clear water

get rid of it and have brown water frm the tannins

either way you go is fine
 
You only really get brown water from oak.

I suppose it won't really matter.

well all woods produce tannins

but yes like i said it should be fine
 
here is a tip, soak the driftwood in a tub for a week or so and change the water every day until the water stays clear. then when you add it to the aquarium it wont change the color of the water...
