Hi, i would like to ask some opinion to help my little new bought 5" channa aurantimaculata...i got it at Saturday, it had started to feed after the few hours i released it into the tank. (I feed it with mealworms)
On next day, i found that it's appetite had no that good...then become no appetite at all when night. But the fish stil looks healthy and active.

My tank is standard 4ft tank, the water ph is around 7 and the water tempreture is around 28 digree...

I had no idea what's the reason made it become no appetite...because other partner fishes are all in good conditionand good appetite...
Please help my channa aurantimaculata...thanks!

I agree, if your water tests ok, then he is properly just adjusting to his new surroundings.
You could also try to change the menu, i feed mine bloodworms, shripms, hikari pellets and feeders.

Mine eats like a pig:D
In a month it has grown from around 14cm to around 25cm!

I see, thanks for the replies!

Maybe you guys are right. He got eat some abit at yesterday night (i feed it with 2 small goldfishes and few shirmps...but did not eat much).
And today morning i feed it again with with small goldfishes and shirmps, he seems got no interest with it.

Few more questions want to ask agian about channa aurantimaculata:
1-What the ph, water hardness, and tempreture i should always maintain for channa aurantimaculata to keep them in best shape?
2-What things that you guys always feed your channa aurantimaculata? Will they select the foods you feed them? And got any foods need to avoid?
3-Channa aurantimaculata got any specified diseases need to aware?

Thanks again.

I'm not 100% if this is proven but some keepers who have fed mealworms felt their fish have had problems digesting the hard outer casing of the worms.

i agree with racer..thats why a try to avoid feeding it mealworms i give it to them as a treat sometimes..try tubifex or bloodworms..i found in keeping SH that they do get constipated due to their enormous appetite...try checking its tankmates also he might be getting bullied

Thanks for White Line Racer and your advice.
Yeah, i am now avoid feeding it with mealworms, but except those mealworms had just change skin one... (but so far my arowanas and Channa Marulioides got no problem for feeding with mealworms and superworms)

I think i shouldn't worry about he been bullied because I had seen few times he was the one who bully the other tankmates.

there's a possibility uR channa is adjusting 2 it's new environment and the conditions... give it a good 2 - 3 days... den let us know again... as 4 the mealworm part i haf no clue... cuz i used 2 feed many of my fishes not juz mealworms... it's more hardcore... i fed centipedes and there wasn't any problem... so i wun know... but yea... keep us posted mate...

Well I am also keeping 1....and feed only super worm & frog cos it is it fav. food.. other thing i throw in eg like feeder fish it will not eat..

You might wan to put in some leaf...so far i know they like to be in soft water...
