ok so i have thirty gallon with white rocks and a kind of bright light but the thing is i have had my oscar for about a month or more and he doesn't move he will swim over and hide under a plant and do nothing. help/suggestions please:(

Temperature? Water parameters? Any string white poo? Have you been doing water changes? Considering an oscar in a 30g is pretty stocked, assuming its a juvi.

Moved to help you out.

the temp is 78 f idk water parameters. no white poo string. do oscars require a darker light and enviroment

its a juvi. and i have a 55 to put it in later

water changes happen regulary like weekly

Check your water parameters. Oscars are messy fish and can easily pollute the water in 30g.

You may also want to consider something a little larger (or at least deeper from front to back) than a 55g for it later on. I had my oscar in a 55g for about a year, but he eventually started having a really hard time turning around (he's 2 years old and 14" long now).

Ignoring whether or not your water parameters are in check, I should confirm that bright light really snaps an Oscar. Get rid of the white decor and try a dimmer light.

Other advice is that the 55g will last about six months (with once weekly water changes). Oscars should be kept in water with nitrates below twenty ppm. I just upgraded to a 125g for my O. He is in a 75g and I am doing 90% water changes every week to keep the nitrates in the green zone. And my guy is only 10" long, so you do the math. Unless you want to be changing water every other day. Best of luck with your O!

definitely ima startwork on a 300 build soon
