Mine grew from 4 inches to 11 inches in 2 years. He outgrew the 65 I had him in a regretfully traded him in . Wish I would have kept him very cool fish.
I fed him NLS the 2 mm pellets along with a veggie flake a couple times a week . He was in with 3 redhook silver dollars and a bn pleco. He never bothered anything.
Sorry the veggie flake was actually spirulina algae flakes, he would feed off the top and the bottom and on the glass and everywhere in between.
I just purchased one of these guys on Saturday. I have him on a regiment of algea wafers and NLS. He is living with 2x festivums, 8x Head and Tail lights and 4x Banjo Catfish. He also has a piece of drift wood with Java Fern growing off of it to Graze on.. Anything else I need to need to know or have neglected to give him?
I bought a little one about 3 weeks ago. Only ~1.5in (Std.length), or ~2in Total. Very colorful even at this small size. I will post pictures soon but I can't yet because I just joined the forum. Years ago I had a 6 inch one, very healthy but somewhat less colored. And I do think they were both S. taeniurus (i.e., not S. insignis, which often is more colorful). Cheers!
