Product Review: CaribSea Eco Complete Plant Substrate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Eco-complete is pretty good... Has anyone on this forum used RedSea Florabase; excellent substrate!

So, does one actually have to replace the substrate of would dosing with fertilizers be sufficient?

Eco-complete is a great substrate, many would agree that it's better than ADA aquasoil.

Ecocomplete has iron in it, but I don't know if it has potassium. I dose supplements anyway.

I saw a review of Eco-Complete on another site and this guy had pictures of his tank with Eco-Complete and then with ADA Aquasoil and the plant growth and general appearance of all the vegitation was so much better with ADA!

Cheers,
Corin

Yes Corin, but remember Tom Barr and the Behemoth tank, the ADA aquasoil was too messy for a large tank, so he switched to Eco-complete. I also heard that Eco-complete had TOO much potassium in one batch which contaminated the water, they do contain it. ADA aquasoil also has Ammonia and Nitrite spikes when starting up a tank and is more messy.

I'm not saying that Eco-complete is a better substrate, infact I would probably go for ADA next time, I'm just pointing out its disadvantages. PLus you can get more variety from Aquasoil, With Eco-complete there is only black and if your aquascape doesn't suit black then it's no good.

used that stuff for along time in a 45 and a 20L both with excelent results and never added a single supplement all plants thrived till I took them out of there my next planted venture will use all ADA products
