So far I do too. It's a little spendy, but it has been worth it.

garlic is a known appetite enhancer in fish and yes it does have anti-parasitic properties - mostly nematodes/trematodes in the digestive tract, but I've also read about it curing salt water ich (a different disease than freshwater ich).

Quite some time ago when I was really in to discus, I read an article by Jack Wattley about the benefits of fresh garlic. This article does mention it: http://www.animalcomp.com/archives/fish/DiscusExpert.html Old Jack found out that yes, it does need to be fresh. In the article that I recall he examined fish feces under a microscope and determined the garlic was very effective at killing capillaria.

I've always included some fresh garlic in the frozen food mixes that I make for cichlids.

So here is a friendly challenge to ewurm, neo and whoever else is using this: Do some controlled trials and experiment with fresh garlic vs. the kent product. I would imagine that the garlic xtreme has some preservatives/stabilizers etc., but maybe something else too? Or, alternatively, send some garlic extreme to me and I'll try it!:) I promise no fish will be harmed during this testing!

He examined fish crap under a microscope? I thought I was really into fish. He's WAY into it, arm deep. LOL

Some of the most convenient remedies aren't even drugs. I felt a little cough coming on yesterday ate a clove of garlic and felt better in the evening. Yes it's possible that all the anoying people that were driving me to a physical stage of illness were driven away giving my spider senses time to recover... but I like to think it was just a home remedy.

If someone simply gave me a placebo that I thought would drive off the evil bastards of this world, I would feel better. The mind is a powerful thing. On two occasions, I have faked sickness and actually become sick.
