Hi Dayak.
A 300watt heater is really only rated for a 75 gallon tank.
Using that on a bigger tank the heater will be kicking in too much putting stress on it, which will likely cause it to fail.

IMO, it is always best to find the wattage rated for your tank, then go with a slightly higher rating. And try to get 2. (for example, if your tank needs 500watts, get 2 x 250watts connected to the one thermostat)

you guys are on about water treatment and chlorine in the water needing chemical assistance to stabilise - quick question to which i honestly dont know the answer and hoping to learn - is an hma filter not ok to replace chemicals? i dont really like to use chemicals in my tank unless i really must. i have a 3 canister hms and have never seemed to have any problems - also i used to have an aro which had no eyes at all or even sockets where eyes belong - could this have been a drop eye problem that healed in time or just a mutation? how is drop eye caused in aro? can it be repaired??

Most likely mutation.
Nobody knows what causes or cures drop eye.

That's might be the case when I put my old aquaon shatter proof heater it was 250watt I believed and rated for 90 gallon.
The one I have now is 300watt by eheim jager model and its rated for 264gallon, it should be enough

My aro stopped eating the hikari floating pellets I have been feeding him with for months,I think he is bored with the food.
So we got him eating fresh prawn instead, we feedhim 2 prawns large size daily that's cut in 2 pieces, we tied the prawn to a string at first I tied it wrong and he ate the prawn along with the string, good thing its long string so we got a chance to catch it to pull it out,we pulled out not only the string but the prawn he ate out from his stomach LOL
For now he is eating prawn and hope him to g back to the pellets

another pic of progression, including the DE he has on right eye, left eye as good as it can be..he is very healthy, he is dieting on prawn only this time feed him twice a day and sometimes once a day.
and here is the pic of his roomie, got it when he was 3 now he is like 7 inch.
