i got hard time taking pics of him, he is too active for close up picture or maybe the current lightning with this time of day is not great for my camera..i will try to snap another as the sun come up some more :headbang2

LOL, you should do stand up!
No. Yours is not at all in "great shape", and I would love to take you up on the bet that "yours is healthier than ours".

For one, mine and everyones here doesn't and never has had ICH.
And looking at your last pics looks like a pretty darn clear case of fin rot.

Why not just swallow your pride, and ask for help from people that know how?

By the way, below is a Black Arowana I rescued that was in very bad shape kept in cramped conditions and bad water with fin rot, bruising, missing scales, internal and external parasites and pale color among other things.

Now with real proper care and conditions, it is starting to bloom again and enjoy life.

Don't let yours get into this state. It is allready getting there.
I won't be there to rescue yours!

Do the right thing, not flaming just real honest advice/opinions.

Though you can't tell in the pics, gotta figure gill curl is starting to form also :thumbsdow

Just starting reading this thread. Very amusing. It is pretty clear this guy doesnt want to learn from the smartest people on this subject. He just wants to learn from experience.

By the way, your arowana looks in rough shape. If you took only half advice people are trying to give you, you would have a great looking arowana. Good luck.

after reading half this thread, i feel that there is some flaming but he did it to himself. take the adivse that is freely givin to you and say thank you. good day sir

just tested the water everything is good its been 2 days recovering the ich attack and water temp still kept at 88F prime treatment stopped 3 days ago, the fins still the same, not getting any worse, if its fin rots, it would be worse/more shreds.
looks like everything is good and right now and right on schedule of estimated recover.
i take input not advice, granted some of them r good and i take into consideration and do it my way

Unfortunately, I think you're right. It's a general principal of mine not to give up on someone who requires help, no matter how backwards and hardheaded they may be... but my patience only stretches so far, considering my time and advice are being given for free. (And how insulting it'd be if I got carpal tunnel due to all the paragraph's I've written, and which have been summarily dismissed.)

When someone gives their fish ich, and maybe fin rot, and still claims everything is fine and that they will continue to do things their way, well... you just can't argue with logic like that.

But before I part, a few words: There are different "correct" ways of doing things. Just because someone does something different, that doesn't mean they're doing it wrong, and similarly, you cannot rationalize doing something wrong by stating you're just doing it "differently." Cycling should be completed before fish are added to a tank. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about this to the morally and ethically sound individual.

The OP keeps mentioning that he thinks his way is better, because he "monitors" the tank... what's the point in monitoring the tank when you know, for sure, ahead of time, that ammonia and gonna show up? Nitrite too, eventually. So, what exactly are you monitoring? The cycle is gonna happen in exactly the same way, except that if there aren't any fish in the tank, you spare them the suffering of wallowing in waste, and the permanent damage caused by chronic exposure to ammonia. I had never thought about it, but once bderick and Miguel mentioned it, I also realized I had never seen an arowana with ich.

My only hope is that you don't repeat this exact same process when you set up a bigger tank.

Hmmm... I'm going to try to steer clear of this thread... but I think we all know I'm going to fail. So... I guess I'll be back when you start threatening to put discus into an uncycled tank, but not to worry!, because you'll "monitor" the parameters.

i try to stay away, but it is just to damn funny. yet i feel bad for the aro cause this is the kinda guy we hope doesn't get an aro from the new shippment.

This guy shouldn't be keeping fish at all.
It's almost insanity:- Some of the posts . (that doesnt apply to those giving proper advice that is)
