Well fellow MFK I have finally decided to take my live rock out and cook it for 6 months. While I am doing that I am doing some tank reconstruction. I am taking my single Tunze 6060 out and adding 2 Tunze 6100's with multi controller. I am also going to drill the tank and add a CLS spray bar under the live rock with rock lifts. No more detrius. The only challenge will be the sand storm if I turn up the Tunzes to much. This will be a SPS heaven when I finish. Wish me luck Check my blog for alot of tank pics but I will post a few.

Enjoy.

Cook em up! I like that reefkeeper device.

After a weeks worth of cooking I did my fisrt 100% water change. The water has already started smelling so that means that the detritus is comming off. Here are 2 pics The first pic is the live rock in the new container and RODI water. The second is what the water looked like after I removed the live rock while swishing it as I removed it.

I added a few things to the aquarium today. I went to the LFS and picked them up. The guy who sold me the Fire Fish also gave me a Peppermint shrimp for free that was in bad shape. I am going to try to nurse him back to health!

mmm... reef keep soup....haha

what is that one coral that is green and reddish striped? some kind of plate coral? looks really interesting.

It is a Maze Brain. A LPS coral.

I have never heard of this before. How long has been since the last cooking or how long have you had the rock?

I coocked it for 4 months before it went into the tank. I have had it established in tank for 6 months. I am redoing my system and decided to cook it for 6 months while remodling. LOL. I also ordered 50 lbs of base rock to mix with the live so that it will all be live by the time I put it into the tank. Here is a good link on Cooking rock!
