Not really.. Although Dan's Tem(hybrid) maybe is hard to ID. I wanna know what these will look like..

I'm not talking about those two particular species. I'm talking about cichla in general. There are currently 15 described species and IMO they aren't the easiest fish to identify.

You're right they're not, but I'd rather see hybrid cichla than hybrid black rays where you can't get fresh blood.

I am pretty sure cichla in florida naturally hybridize too.

Should be awesome looking fish if they fertilize this time.. :headbang2

cichla naturally hybridize in the wild thus all the variants in the different systems..some can only be distinguished by dna sampling...but two species like an azul and orino wouldnt meet up in the wild due to where they are both found...I am doing this because I think the mix would produce a wildly colored and patterened cichla...if all goes as planned I am going to cull all normally looking out of the batch to keep the mixed strain out and only raise out the freaks...who knows a bright green 5bar cichla...a greyish orino with blue finnage and 3 black ocelli...dont know what will come out of it, but they will be one of a kind :) or it may not even happen.

seriously, can i get on a waiting list, i need fry
