Nice update :)

How's its temperament at this size ?

I am totally digging' those white streamers on his tail :naughty:

He is being pretty good, I would actually say he has got less aggressive in the time ive had him.... especially since taking his smaller caves away and forcing him to socialise, knock on wood lol...

That's a comfort to hear :)

I always thought the Hemibragus genus would strip the scales off their tank mates (that was what happened when my Wyckii aka ARTC decided on his fellow Oscar mate) so I had to painfully let him go and till this day I can't seem to be able to find another :(

I think I have found the exception, I still wouldn't recommend anyone to try comming wyckii or artc... like I wrote earlier in the thread my midas is in charge an even now kicks the wyckiis arse, if he gets the better of "rocky" I think project over!

hey all, a little update here as it been a year now bar 1 week. The wyckii is between 17-19 inch now and apart from the odd ripped fin and a bit of kok biting he has been a pretty social wyckii, he even comes out for a swim with the tank fully lit! i will be honest he has eaten a few tankmates but that was my fault due to them being what i thought was borderline bitesized... they were infact bitesized. besides going through a stage of ripping filter pipes off and knock stuff around the tank he is a fairly mellow fish atm. here is a video from today!-)

Nice and unique project, Justin. We all should be thankful to you. The fact tat you are a good and responsible communicator is a bonus.

Having said a, say b: what did he eat and what were their sizes? I am a bit worried about your bala shark there too.

cheers fella. he ate a smaller 7 inch silver shark... these two came free with a tank i bought and i havent been able to shift them... only 1 now! with the job lot midas i bought came a 5 inch sp. black tropheus which i had nowhere for at the time planned to take him out the next day but he went in the night... back near the beginning he took a 7 inch mala wolf and an 8 inch channa!!

it has been a fun journey, at times i hardly saw him apart from his glinting crystal eyes from a deep cave even then it was like beast living in the shadows often heard having a pop at fish passing to near his entrance... at 12 inch he terrified a 10 inch dovii to the point where he nearly broke through the lid!-) as long as my cichlids dont back down i think this will work long term (knock on wood)... the butti is a part of this, hopefully he will behave and hit 40+cm thus still having a large dominant cichlid to keep him in check,`1 obviously once the wyckii puts on another 6 inch i dont think rocky (my big midas) will be up to the job.

well ive put him back in the 300, he is free from the lonely life in the 100g:lock:, having trouble finding a decent home for him so looks like he is staying atm. i got a good measure of 18 inch with his tail, so thats from 12 inch in 18 months. The butti is ruling the tank since rocky passed away and is between 13 and 14 inch now and a brute... the jewels and other small fish are back in the 100g.
