love my wyckii as much as any rtc ive had, surprised theres not more love on here?

I'll be lazy and just copy my small write-up on my wyckiis from elsewhere:

"Cat-eLog states these (wykiis) can be combined with other large fish in public-size aquaria. Does not explicitly say if with each other. Don't know how big a tank should be to attempt the latter but I've had two ~1.3' wykiis in my 25'x6'x3' pond. Beautiful black fish with coquettish white bands on the upper caudal lobe. Easy to handle, they let me lift them up and out of the water with one bare hand :-O for a moment and put them back, all without a wiggle or a fight. They can easily defend themselves from 4-5 times bigger (by weight) hungry predators like my 2.5' TSN Terroristo and 2.5' TSNxRTC hybrid Evans. They attack them back, if those try, and send them flying across the whole pond. Needless to say no one goes into their holes and if they do they dart out of there as if on fire.

For several months my wykiis did nothing but hid only 1-2 meters away from each other in two clay pots. Never knew of each others existence and proximity (it is a supposition but I've never seen them fight each other and never any physical damage on them). Then, one day when I was vacuuming for an n-th time and lifted their pots, they, eventually, found each other. There is some serious dislike between those two. They would not stop fighting and even after I separated them by chasing one away into his farthest clay haven, I found them fighting 15 min later. Eventually, one of them had to go behind the divider to join 1.5' wallago leerii, two 2' alligator gars and Co. He let me lift him out of the water and throw behind the divider. So peace was gained back.

Wyckioides, to me, is also very beautiful, if not more beautiful than wykii. And grows larger by a foot or more. I'd like to get some experience with that fish."

wyckii are known as black devil on here but normally its another catfish right?

Yes, I thought about Trachycorystes trachycorystes but IME it is called Black Devil Catfish exceedingly rarely, so I thought that was not worth our attention. It is known mostly as a Black Driftwood Catfish. IME, again. That of others may vary.

there was two at my lfs next to the wyckii, think they are still there at 150 pounds each! also a 18 inch lince for sale near me for 400 pounds at a lfs!!! seems rare fish are abundant atm here lol!

my wyckii is still being good, other than an odd ripped fin on the smaller cichlids, project continues sort off... im selling alot of my cichlids off now, just bought a large channa diplogramma as the wyckii's permanent tank mate!

hey all, project over! wyckii lived up to its name un-surprisingly, he attacked both 7 inch festae and had the 8 inch syno's back third in his mouth by the looks of it! anyway long story short he now resides in temporary residence in the jewel 120, his settled in over night and rearranged the sand and wood then continued to attack the missus as she cleaned the tank!-) need to set his 150 up now asap... the damage to the fish was superficial and all should be well in a week or so.

heres some pics of him, at least i can see him now and he actually looks happier.

That brings back memories! I had a wyckii about twenty years ago that tried to eat a 9-10" Synodontis. I came home to the syno sticking out of the wyckii's mouth (his pectoral fins saved him) and was able to make the wyckii spit him out. The tip of the syno's tail was a little bit digested, but he healed up fine....

Lol... defo not for the average community...
