  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
btw, where the full tank shot at?

Looks like a standard male JD to me. You can't beat free. Make sure you are doing lots of water changes. The Oscar looks like it has a good bit of hole in the head. The guy that had them before must have had high nitrates from not doing water changes.

Yes...thank you. It's already been treated. That's scarring from it that you see in the picture. He gave me the package of medicine he had treated him with and told me he hadn't had any problems with it since then. He also gave me enough meds for 2 more treatments (for my 80 gal tank) but the box says it's some strong stuff and it is usually supposed to clear it up with one treatment and he told me he hadn't seen any new problems since he treated him...just the scarring that it left.....thanks :)

Also...just fyi...I didn't know what caused the hole in the head disease....but the high nitrate not enough water change thing would make alot of sense because he had both of these guys in a 50 gal tank....I don't even know how they were able to turn around in it because they are huge!!! I do water changes once a week. As I said before I have the meds to treat it though.....should I do another treatment just to be on the safe side? ....just to be sure ...or would it be better to wait and do a treatment only when it looks worse?
Unneccessary medicating better safe than sorry....or unneccessary medicating a bad thing to do????

No need to treat it. It is generally (but not always) is caused by poor water quality which usually means high nitrates. Provide them clean water and always keep your nitrates below 20. But the lower the better. I prefer below 5 if possible. For the oscar to get it that bad it was probably above 200 in his tank. The scars will stay but it will not spread if you keep the water clean.

Awsome! both fish look good. i want a ebjd. plane to get one by the end of the summer :D
