I am not familiar with the various African cichlids but was asked about a nice mix for a communitty tank in an area that has somewhat hard, alkalyne water. The tank should contain several species and be colorful and active.
This is wahat I came up with and I would like those of you who are familiar with the fish to feel free to make comments and suggestions.
The fish were chosen for size, lack of serious aggression, and tolerance for the water conditions as well as appearance. ( Photo source for each is listed)
5-6 Melanochromis vermivorous, 2 3/4" (O'Brien)
6-8 Lamprologus stappersi, 2" with shells (Hagblom)
3 Cyprichromis leptosoma, 4" (Johnny Jensen)
5 Micralestes acutidens, 3 1/2" (Gratwicke)
1 Synodontis petricola, 4" (Johnny Jensen)
Please let me know what you think.
