Proposed channa ban in the UK!!!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Agreed but It makes more sense in the states where you have a much wider diversity of habitat and easy access to all areas... in the U.K. Only a very small number of species have any chance of survival and only the Argus of breeding..... so hopefully sensible heads will prevail and just ban the threatening species and not blanket ban.... I mean what threat is my plerothema in my tropical 220g!! It might live the summer in the autumn and winter....no chance!

I agree with Diesalhybrid, the problem is identification, many aquarists have a hard time on MFK trying to tell the difference between a festae and a uropthalmus.
Can you imagine trying to teach non-fish people the difference between all the different species of snake heads, along with all the other things a customs worker has to deal with, and who is more worried about some kind of terrorist threat in the next shipping carton.
Snake heads were banned in the US state where I used to live, and most lakes would freeze down at least 2 ft solid ice.
