Why limit yourself to this size tank? Just get like a 6'x3'x2' or something.

Build or buy a big tank dude! Noones bashing you or crushing your dreams. I have a 120"x48"x24" and I think its kinda small sometimes. Rays just grow large.

I was just joking I really appreciate the quick feedback. Unfortunately I'll be living in an apartment for the next year and a tank that size would be outrageous. My fish would have more space than me haha. It's something that's going to have to wait for awhile. Where did you guys get tanks with those huge dimensions?

I would go with hystrix also and no kidding that my female motoro is 1.5 years old 20" across and after a good feeding is almost 5" thick over a 1/3 of your depth
Then why not get a 6x2x2 with a small male hystrix
I could probably do that now if it would be possible to put my angels and sailfin pleco to free up some space

That pleco will chew the ray to bits
The angels if big maybe ok with a hystrix as they are a little more gentle compared to motoro

The other option would be to put my teugelsi with it but it's an extremely aggressive fish, even among birchirs.
