Is there any one who has experience on using a protein skimmer on a fresh water tank with cichlids (Malawi)?
Nic said:fresh water is not as dense as salt so it wont do too much good but it will increase o2 levels in the water imo its not worth using a protien skimmer on freshwater

, they dont have the same function as a true protein skimmer.DeLgAdO said:Will do![]()
well think about it,
what about the monster fish we keep in our monster tanks?
what they dont give off as much waste as a pond?![]()
if this is true then a protein skimmer would be great for a monster fish tank
and for the record, POND SKIMMERS ARE NOT PROTEIN SKIMMMERS
pond skimmers just skim the top of the water for debris, they dont have the same function as a true protein skimmer.
