 Hello guys, I'm sorry but I have another question that you all may think is stupid, but I am new to this and your help has been so helpful and useful that I need to ask another question. As you guys know I just got a 210 gallon fish tank that I am using as a FOWLR. I have my live rock and the starter fish in there to cycle the tank. I am using a Fluval FX5 canister filter to assist my live rock in filtering my setup. Yes, I know I should have a sump, but due to my situation I can't take the chance of an electrical blackout and having a flood. You see, I am a quadriplegic and if the electricity went out at night, which it often does in my neighborhood, I would have no one there to help me stop the flooding, so my best bet is to use a canister filter.

Well here is my question, I know right now I don't need it, but in a month, or so, when it is time for me to set up a protein skimmer, which should I use? Could you suggest a good protein skimmer or some way to utilize a protein skimmer on this aquarium? It has to be able to handle the 210 gallons and it can't be for a sump. I have been looking for a protein skimmer that is a "hang on tank" and most cannot handle that volume of water, I want a protein skimmer that is rated for a lot more than I need.

Could you also suggest some good light bulbs to help the live rock produce better growth?

Sorry for all the stupid questions I've asked, but your advice has been so beneficial I can't help but ask.

finding a hang skimmer for that size of a tank will be really hard if not impossible. if a sump is set up correctly you should never have a flood. we get many power outages around the holidays and i have never had flood.

Yes but I can't take that chance with flooding.
God forbid it happened my woman would kill me-LOL

The only hang on protein skimmer for that size tank hang on would be a Coralife super skimmer 220.. very good protein skimmer.. or maybe two..

This is the one
I got.The Prizm Pro which is supposed to be a great skimmer for marine aquarium! The 18 blade turbojet air injector and convergent-divergent reaction chamber assures greater turbulence and extended contact time between air bubbles and water, which creates a protein-loaded, stable foam at the throat of the skimmer. It Includes external water pump, removable 40 fl. oz. waste collection cup with optional drainage port, adjustable height surface skimmer, and filtration media basket. Suitable for tanks up to 300 gallons. Please tell me what you think

Ive heard prizms are a crock... go to the people on bostonreefers.org and ask, theyre snobs but they know their stuff.

Get a bunch of Remora Pro's and throw them on the back!
