ok i am setting up my marine tank soon and due to the tanks location i cant hang the skimmer on the back and as i have 2 spare external filters i wont be using a sump.
the skimmer needs to go under the tank so what are my options.

You could hang it on the side of the tank, it will be pretty expensive if it has to sit next to or under the tank. You could get a skilter. You won't need it at first anyways, because there won't be anything in it for it to remove.

it cant hang on the side either as the tank is being sited in an alcove thats only 1'' bigger than the tank all the way around.
as for not needing it yet thats a good point as i am only adding live rock for the first month before adding fish.
i cant get a sump set up now either as the tank is not drilled although i could look into getting it drilled locally then making a sump.
what do you think, also what is a slikter?

Skilter is a filter with a small skimmer inside of it. You don't need to get the tank drilled to have an overflow for a sump, but it does look nicer that way. How big of a tank are you planning on getting?

the tank is here its a 32Lx32Wx24H.

i seem to have found these what do you think

so will this skimmer work externally under my tank and not in a sump with just a outlet and inlet pipe like an external filter works

the other option is this which does state can work externally

yep yep or better yet a cyclone by Red sea

Man, fwiw IME the collection cup on the skilter always seems to fill with dirty water not foam. I agree with fishskins you don't need it until your cycle is done anyway .
Cheers and welcome to the salty side
