Aquamaxx HOB-1 is a great skimmer for smaller tanks that don't have a sump

for hob go with reef octopus B-whatever you need; good price, works well, etc
for serious (expensive) skimming, go deltec hob
And then theres bubble king for in sump; absolute beast (but expensive). Other expensive alts are ATB and vertex alpha.

I know some people who own reef octopus skimmers who love them, and they do seem well built and heavy duty
