I am going to get 6 of these F2 fry from a local breeder. I find them quite interesting and very beautiful. I don't have much experience with saulosi, so I would love to hear about your experiences and what you know about them. Thanks.

they stay small 3" and they are very prolific. i loved mine alot but gut rid of them due to my cyno afra minos reef not coloring up well. bummer but o well! definately a very cool well mannered fish.

I am getting them on the 13th and will be putting them with my kyoga flamebacks to grow out. The saulosi will be .75-1 inch. Will there be any aggression issues while growing them out?

Your flamebacks will grow to 6" versus the Saulosi's 3". Had them both and found the Saulosi a much more aggressiv fish. Yes, they are beautiful, but my peacocks wouldn't color and my flameback wasn't happy either. Pseudotropheus are very pretty just overall quick moving and a very territorial breed. Very happy with zebras etc...

Mine are the most active and out mbuna Ive ever had.Always out in front of the tank.Do well in large groups like 5m 18f would look awesome in a 75-90g tank.

They will be growing out in the 40 gallon, and then I will move them into a new 60 gallon for the both the saulosi and kyoga flamebacks as they get much more mature. I know of someone who is keeping their saulosi with their kyoga flamebacks in a 46 gallon temporarily. From his observations, the saulosi and kyoga completely ignore each other and peacefully coesxist without any problems whatsoever. They keep to themselves and breed normally(no hybridizing). This is what pretty much influenced me into getting saulosi as tankmates. I will however observe their behavior and acts as they grow. Thanks guys.

It will come down to attitude of the entire group. I had a bunch of Vics growing out in my Saulosi tank. Everyone got along fine. Male Vics were coloring up & Saulosi were gettin' it on. I think they do better in larger groups though. They are definitely some of the most personal Mbuna I have kept. They like to smiw through my fingers when I put my hand in the tank.
