I think they mean that he is registered as owning him, and if he can't provide a body then he will be charged for releasing a banned fish.
No, just a piece of paper, not a radio collar. Sudz has it right. If they come and Chris can't produce he'll be arrested.

Try a duck or a native fish found in the syracuse area. I wonder what that chimps wife in conn. would have said if the state had tried to remove it from her home last summer. Oh, he's so cute and a part of our family. We watch TV, and take baths together. He laugh at my jokes and he wouldn't hurt a fly. Now a women is in a coma with no face in Cleveland. Kill the fish and fine the family for bringing it here in the first place."

"I met Rocky. The only cold blooded killer in this story is the DEC and the putz who got mad and tattled. The fish can FLOP across land, and MIGHT surrvive it in a moist enviorment. Chris, Rocky, having met you, I hope Rocky lives, and I hope the DEC goes home and feels good that (god for bid it happens and Rocky gets put down) that they can go home and look their family in the eye and be ok. The fish that devistated MD were NOT the same. Yes they were a snakehead fish, but not a giant snakehead. "hi my name is chris deverso and i am the owner of rocky ..there are many stories out there and this has been a 3 month battle now,first you all have to understand this is a pet of my families for 10 yrs now ..i innocently purchased legally at a local pet store 10 yrs ago ,the law was passed in 2004 ,the law was not broadcast very noticibly ,how many people do internet reserch on a daily basis to see if their pet has become illegal or not ,this is a giant snkehead and NOT the northern snakehead found and the cause of crofton pond in MD ..the giant is a tropical species not a cold climate species ,is it fair that 10 yrs ago i legally baught a pet and now i have a criminal record ,,is this what we all have to fear from here on out ???? please do not compare my fish to a bear,dog or chimp use some common sence here,it cannot do the harm as they can,as to the eco system again its a tropical species ,type in any browser "maryland rethinks snakehead ban" you will see they have differentiated"

That last bit, wasn't actually me. I decided to forgo the flamewar that was the comment section of the Daily News article and wrote my letter straight to the editor.

The article did not shed good light on Rocky-i am disappointed at the lack of research put into the piece-its like the writer spent 5 minutes just throwing something together. Its a mess. The ignorant comments left by people "cut it into fishsticks and fry it up", or "its not a dog-its just a fish!" make me irate. If people would stop comparing it to an agressive face eating monkey, and realize that he purchased this snakehead LEGALLY they might see the point-but they are too busy flapping their jaws and shutting their ears..
what a shame. Im still rooting for Rocky-it just makes me sad that people are viewing his as a pestulance and evil monster instead of a much loved, elder pet.
