BTW-- I wrote to Governor Patterson:
Dear Governor,
I'm writing to you in regards to an issue you may have heard about recently. Here in Central New York Rocky the Snakehead fish has become something of an icon in recent weeks. The Department of Environmental Conservation wants to seize Rocky and destroy him because they consider him a threat to the environment. Rocky is ten years old and close to the end of his life. For these ten years his owner Chris Deverso has had Rocky as a pet. Why would Chris release Rocky after all these years? I'm not technically asking for a permit or a grandfather clause for him. What I'm asking for is the chance for Rocky to live out what little life he has left with his family. What would the problem be for Chris to just make a phone call and turn over Rocky's body once he naturally goes? Or paying a fee monthly, bi-monthly or yearly? The DEC could put this fee towards the rehabilitation of Onondaga Lake or one of the other countless efforts to restore CNY to its natural beauty.
Sincerely,
(Breella)
