about 3 months ago, i bought a pea puffer (AKA dwarf puffer) and had some trouble with it being too shy. well a wile later, it got less shy, so i got another one. as soon as i put the new one in, the old one started biteing it! it lached on to the new one and the new one puffed up! i have since then put the old puffer in my 15 gallon tank in a net breeder. the new one is still in the puffer tank. i am planing on keeping the old one in the other tank for a week, and then moving it back in. any suggestions? thanks!

(by the way, the old one i think is female and the new one male. also the tank is only 2.5 gallons, but the girl at my LFS said that they would be okay. thanks again.)

They are territorial. The 2.5g is really small for 2 they are messy and territorial. You could try to heavily plant the tank.so they can't see each other 24/7. Then take the old puffer out rearrange the put both in together. No guarantees

Good advice above. Plants/other decor could help.

Also, and this wouldn't work in a 2.5g, but you could get more of them than just 2. Often with a pair of fish one will be dominant and aggressive, but if he only has one target for his aggression it'll be bad for the fish that gets picked on. If he can spread it out between multiple targets it's not as bad for any one of them.

never trust what LFS people tell you.
always do your own research first.

Minimum of 5g necessary for a single of these species. Sounds like you hay have 2 males. How did you ID their sex?

Good idea but you really should get that singleton into a larger tank.
