Do their teeth need to be sharpened by shell food?

Not so much sharpened as much as worn down, since puffers can get over-grown beaks...

Feeding snails / crayfish / clams etc all can help prevent that happenening ;)

Thanks guys. I'm currently feeding him freeze dried bloodworms, however he doesn't appear to be eating all of it. A large amount is left over until he just leaves it alone. Is this a problem? He's acting normal and swimming actively still.

Skip the FD blood worms and goto the market and pick up some frozen prawns...

Then when it comes to feeding, defrost a piece in a cup of tank water, then using a pair of tongs or something you can feed your puffer till he's full then remove leftover shrimp...

Having a snail colony in a small 5-10 gallon tank will also help, and if possible, try and get him onto pellets tomake your life even easier...
