whatever size i can get, he tears them apart. He'll go after crickets bigger than him. Make sure you include snails in his diet to grind down his beak, if not it will overgrow and he'll die. Also you need bigger tank/dif substrate/sea salt mix/hydrometer/the corys wont last lol.(hate to be one of those but it's true)

I was wondering about the snail thing I want to give him some...but I have yet to find anything cept big snail to keep as pets

The corys are there just for now, they will probably get moved to one of my other tanks...I do need a hydrometer but my ph is at a steady 8ish...would that be the only reason to change the substrate?

Usually pet stores have snails that are pests that they will gladly give you. They come in with plants sometimes and breed like crazy, I've never paid for feeder snails at a pet store. The crushed coral / aragonite maintains an alkaline PH and provides instant cycling / holds more beneficial bacteria. You'll have a lot less problems with PH an ammonia etc with these substrates.

I forget the exact type of substrate I have. I know it's sechem aragonite, it's white and looks like a mixture of crushed shells. Similar to this

I actually think I have a bag of that laying around somewhere...its what happens when you send someone out to pick something up for you...didn't get what i needed at the time, but useful now haha

haha
I'd switch to that, and after every water change add a little more salt than the before until you get the salinity at a good level. Pick up some instant ocean and a hydrometer and you're good to go.

I have salt and there is salt in there...just followed what the guy at the lfs told me, he also said to vary the salt a little during each water change...what do you think of that? just need to get the hydrometer
