Puffers and oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No puffer is going to be recommend to live with an Oscar. The only way I would recommend the two together is in a 20’ x 10’ x 5’ planted tank where the two are able to stay away from each other and then go with pea puffers.

Even this is a no go in the event that the oscar accidentally swallows one. Friend of mine tried getting rid of his p puff by feeding it to his massive red shoulder severum, p puffer's venom had the last laugh there.

The only puffer that i can think of that might work would be an MBU but even that would be risky imho...

Visualize for a second a 20’ x 10’ x 5, now vision it heavily planted and with objects stacked up as to create tunnels and space that the Oscar can’t get into. Either way it’s a 20’ x 10’ x 5’, that’s more than enough space to ensure that the two don’t meet if one set it up correctly.

Yep, that's why small fish never get eaten by larger fish in nature; they have lots of room to avoid the big guys so they are completely safe.
