Im thinking of adding some sort of puffer to my tank. currently has 1-6' pbass, 2-3' pbass, 3-4' clown loaches, and 2-4' dats. are there any puffers that will grow to a nice size and be compatible with these tankmates? depending on the required setup, im not even sure if this is possible.

Not very likely.

Please don't recommend a mbu until you kow how large of a tank they plan to house it in.

All of the fish you have produce a good amount of waste, and puffers tend to be very sensitive to poor water quality. A smaller sized MBU would be "okay" in that set up, but special attention would need to be payed to the water quality.
The only problem your going to run into is that after a while the MBU will outgrow the 125.
May be more hassle then what you are looking for.

But to answer your question there have been many people that have kept pbass and dats with their MBUs.

I have dats with mine.

But in the end all puffers can be the devil and you can never say for sure that they will be safe.

Before even considering a mbu:
