What should I do now? I have 7 more pumkinseeds and a florida gar in the same tank.

Even if the gar is 11"? The newly hatched fry is only tenths of an inch.
For how long will the male guard the nest?
When the yolk sac is absorbed, is newly hatched brine shrimp and similar a good first food?

the male guards the nest until the eggs hatch, good point with the gar i didnt think about that, and that food sound good

Yes and no. I'm moving in a few weeks so caring for the fry is out of the question, but at the same time it would be quite fun to see how they turn out. But the most logical thing to do is to let them be. And those who survive survive.

That was my motto for my African Cichlids since I had no other tank......ended up with about 50-60 yellow lab fry surviving. haha.

They are all gone now but they spawned again yesterday. Took the eggs over to a smaller tank and keeping my fingers crossed.
