If you saw my last post, I found a pair of Hystrix that’s being held for me until I get home! So now I’m having my girlfriend cycle a 300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank for me in my garage as a temporary home until I get the 8x4x2.5 fully set up. I’m struggling with return pump size, I see people are usually doing 5x-10x what brand and or model should I go with for this tank size. And yes I used the search bar for the last hour trying to figure it out on my own but I couldn’t find an exact answer

For in water return pumps, I’ve had great success with leguna pond pumps and for inline return pumps I run Dolphin Amp Master S series for my larger setups, they’re good and are energy saving. As far as what size you need for your tank, just take your tank size in gallons and multiply by whatever turnover rate you want. I am always near 10x turnover rate an hour. So if your tank is 300 gallons, a 3,000 gph pump will do just fine. Also factor in head height when looking, most pumps will have a head height rating
