Pump Options for 900g per hour?

I have now got 1600lph by using a Fluval ribbed hose direct up into tank curved over the top.

Still not what I was hoping for.

Should I just scrap this sump idea??

Has anyone actually measured their output and got whatthey thought they were?

If you're not happy with the pump why not return it and try another? I wouldn't give up on the sump idea since they are so customizable and easy to maintain.

I have not measured the output on my canister filters though I have thought about it just to see what the flow in relation to mfg. spec.

You could always get a larger pump or one like Justin suggested above. I don't know how large your sump is so that would also be a deciding factor in a higher flow pump because you definitely would need to be able to supply a large volume pump.
