I'm a fan of PVC for that reason. Although generally not good practice to have 90*, I use them on my drains to sump, returns, and close loop. I'm not concerned with the pressure or enough flow. I had some pictures in the underneath the stand thread, fyi.

Whats the average life expectancy of the pumps you guys use ?

So you get around a 90* by using two 45*? It just seems really hard to get around 90*s when you're under a stand. I can see like 5 in your avatar :).

So I found a 1500gph and 3100gph Jebao new in box from a local guy off of craigslist for really cheap. I really don't need that much but I figure at that price I should be good for a while. We'll see how they work.

Oldest one is probably 15 years old. The oldest is easily 20 years but used as a pond pump! It retired but still works. Only reason it retired was my father redid his pond and needed a faster pump for the water falls. I have that old pump now.

I have had great luck with reeflo pumps. if I was you I would run a reeflo dart. they are easy to rebuild if needed and run silent. I have 2 hammerheads right now both about 6 years old or so.

I bought the jebao 12000 but I tested my two Iwakis today and they work perfectly. They are a little corroded on the outside. We'll see how they end up working. I am going to use the larger one exclusively first.
