Pump Suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are these the Rio hyper flow pumps that you guys are talking about? if so, have they been improved? i use to use the 1600gph pump but the impeller magnet would warp and would get stuck. the magnet part of the impeller was some kind of soft almost plastic feeling material. i must have a half dozen of them laying around in my basement. total piece of junk.... that's why i switched to Mag drive pumps.

Hy-Drives are made by Danner, same company that makes Mag Drive pumps.
I'm actually surprised they still make the mags as the hy-drives blow them out of the water.

I ended up ordering a Hy-drive. Will see how it goes, thanks guys.

If he is looking for 1,500 gph then why use two 32hf's? The flow rate is 1,900 gph+ for each pump?

I think I was gonna say two 26hf or one 32hf and forgot what I typed. Plus, 1920 is at 1ft head. He has to pump the water further than. If his stand is 2ft tall, tank is 2ft tall and has only one 90, that wpuld roughly be 5ft of head. If he used two 26hf he would get a little over his desired flow

2 pumps should work pretty well.

What is that pump for? I plan on using a 1250 gph pump for my wet dry, plus a fluval Fx5 for 300g that's why I see a 1250 + pump would work, I think he said he's using 2 fx5 so water flow is good.

If u have a wet dry take in consideration of it's max flow. Gl

New pump arrived today, just installed it. Tank looks like a tornado just went through thanks to the sump getting all stirred up. Already starting to clear, the increased flow seems great. Quiet as a mouse so far.

Thanks all.
