These guys are beautiful, and very under-rated fish. They can hold their own with much larger fish, too. Here is my young male. The female is in another tank, and is brown.

They're pretty little dudes. I'd like to add some to my freshwater tank - but will have to grow them out so they aren't food for my bass.

These guys are nasty mean.. In my tank they are anyways....when a fish swims off very sudden, most of my longears/pumpkins will attack it in a group and murder it, no matter what type of fish it is, long as its not too big. They killed my 10" Hognose 2 days ago, then my crawdads stripped in clean by the morning, only a backbone left.

Hognose ????
They eat crayfish (crawdads) in nature, so that is not surprising. Sorry about that!

The split fins are from him working things out with the gars trying to nip him - but they now know he's too big to eat, and they leave him alone. I added him to eat pieces of food dropped by the gars.
