A 12" pumpkinseed is IMO a HUGE pumpkinseed and you aren't likely to grow one to that size if you ask me. I would suggest for a single pumpkinseed 40g.

i agree 55 gallon after its grown probably could get buy with smaller one say 29 gal till it starts to getting to big

I will probably keep it by itself. It won't happen until sometime this summer though. I know where the little ones hang out in July and I can get them 1 inch long.

How do they do with plants? Will they tear them up?

mine ignore plants but they do like to build a nest, if you leave an area about the size of a paper plate clear of plants they will usually "fan" in that cleared out area. My red spot sunfish cleared all the plants out of his "nest" but has not messed with any of the others in my 40 gal.

:iagree: And also I have never kept pumpkinseeds that is just the size i hear for them. I have heard that that is huge for pumpkinseeds also so I would go with sandtigers suggestion.
