Looking for a New 1200 GPH and want to know what brand everyone prefers.
Looking for one that lasts and is easy on my electric bill.

I use a rio 2500 in one sump and it's been running almost steady for the last 12 years. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Mind you, this particualr pump doesn't do a thousand gph, but it's been super reliable. Great brand.

I used a mag 9.5 in a rack system and that pump worked great. I'm using a mag 12 in another sump and its been running straight for about 2 years with no problems.

I'm going to use a mag 24 in my 360.

All the above pumps are relatively easy on the hydro, but to be honest, I've never really done a cost breakdown since I really have nothing to compare to.

all my rios have failed me.... they were the smaller ones but still they all have failed...

i do love my mag drives... mag 9 running for several years now and i know others who have been running them for a very long time as well

I should of titled this thread Mags vs. Rios LOL!

I think you're going to hear good and bad things about each brand. I've even used several Hagen 901 powerheads in sumps and they've never failed me.

Between what you listed I would say Mag but better options would be.

Tunze, Iwaki, Reeflo any of those would make you happy. More money though.
