yea! any updates? gold spanglings started coming out?

Unfortunately the spangles dissapeared! They look a lot like some other I have, but the only thing that's different is the have a slight circling in their stripes. They are around 5 inches

Wow thoes look a lot like them. I don't know anything about the 4 bars. Ill try to get better pics, my tank is in a wall so it has weird spot lights, ill grab another light later to get better pics

Oh and I got them from tongs tropical fish in fountain valley

if they look like the pics i posted i think you may have some of the fish that rich tried to sell as orino they arent orino at all and ive been watching the posts come in they all look the same with four bars a fourth bar isnt uncommon in smaller fish but most dissapear by 4 or 5 inches my fish and other peoples all have four bars simmilar markings and coloring and are much larger then they should be to loose the fourth bar the only fish i can find with that fourth vertical bar on the caudal peduncle like that is cichla pleizona theres basically one way to prove what they are and thats a scale count on the vertical line pleizona have 88 scales there i can sedate my fish and get the proper scale count but risk killing them in the process so thats not an option for me

If there Pleizona then you my friend have one of the Holly Grail of cichla but like fishjunkie said we have all been watching. This explains the stressed first look.

Keep them feed and I am sure they will turn out nice no matter what they turn out to be but they do look promising.

Haha I find it funny how so many people in socal are getting these "orinos" and they turn out to be some occels with a ton of spangles. Guess Becca can be added onto the list now

Yea I don't think I want to put them at that much risk to find out. How big are yours? Mine are atleast 5 inches. And as far as them being Pleizonas...we can all hope right? Lol
